Nonbinary Bookshelf began as the final project for Hal’s Independent Study in Literature Beyond the Gender Binary for Teens. The blog is devoted to providing reviews of literature for teens with representation of transgender and gender nonconforming characters. On this website you will also find an annotated list of free web resources–including articles, videos, and art–pertaining to gender identity and transgender issues. Feel free to use the contact form if you wish to recommend a title or a web resource for consideration.
Hal is a graduate student at Dominican University’s School of Information Studies. He is pursuing an MLIS with a certificate in Youth Services. Along with library services for transgender youth, his interests include anime, manga, tabletop gaming, and fandom.
